NSC HOSTS ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY/CALLS ON YOUTH BASED NGOs TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE
Castries, Saint Lucia, Wednesday 07th November, 2016. In November of each year the National Students’ Council hosts its General Assembly to mark the beginning of a new students council year. The conference is the highest decision making body of the organization and meets annually to discuss the way forward for the council and elect a new executive for the following year. This year’s event is expected to engage 150 – 200 student leaders from across the island and will be held on the 24th of November following the celebration of “International Students’ Day” on the 17th. The theme for the 2016 conference of students councils is “A Sustainable NSC; Yours and Mine”. It is the goal of the movement to transition into a sustainable structure with the launch of a new logo and a strategic plan for the next three years. Also up for discussion will be the council’s constitution. The President calls on other youth-based Non-Governmental Organizations, specifically the National Youth Council to make an active contribution towards the holistic development of youth in Saint Lucia and lend support to each other through programming and fundraising ventures. It is a frightening reality that the more our efforts dwindle towards youth development so will our relevance to the average Saint Lucian young person.
